Below are five hauntingly beautiful songs of Vietnam, each with a deep, almost spiritual meaning. The song now playing is Binhyen: Springtime on a Peaceful Hill

Springtime on a Peaceful Hill
by Gary Jacobson © 2003

Mid Vietnam’s green hills far away
Fair youth among war’s silent echoes play
Where peace has won the longest day
Beaten back years of battle’s hard fought fray.

Long stilled memorable battles fated roar
Fearful strife relegated to distant days of yore
Heroes royal blood shed to good earth nourish
Where wild flowers tendrils growing flourish.

Now love blooms in fragrant meadow grass
Born wild and free in peaceful hope to last
The world all fresh as morning dew
The sweetest songs on earth renew.

Peace born anew mid Elysian Fields of happiness
True content filling carefree hearts with bliss
Nirvana’s rapturous exaltation biding idyllic
Paradisiacal enchantment eternally Edenic.
